What is the cause of high bearing temperature in the gearbox or compressor.?

We have a gearbox which is driven by gasturbine driving centrifugal compressor. HS Thrust bearing active side has 3 RTD temp. monitor and two temp. RTD are gradually increasing (80 to 141′C) to alarm setting (=120′c) while one is just stable (60-80′C). Vibration is just acceptable and stable. This case is also true in the other compressor but at non-drive end thrust bearing active side. Any explaination pls. thanks. What is the worst case if we leave it as it is? what will we check to know the cause of this high temp. thanks again.

Have you checked to make sure the bearing is well lubricated.

The bearing could be starting to fail. How long have they been installed for.

For a hot spot in the thrust bearing, you might have a high radial load acting in that direction.
