security for small small business owners?

i’m starting my own small business(candy shop). right now i’m working on security. if i get a system will it be reliable if the power gets shut. i’m worried about break ins and people getting around the alarm system. i don’t have a lot of money for something elaborate. what are the ways someone could someone disable it to break in so i could help prevent it.
