What do people think of a law making it mandatory for senior citizens to ……???

…….. have to take a driving test every few years? My husband and I live with my elderly mother. I see how she drives and her friends drive. It’s alarming. My mother caused an accident which totalled her car and the other driver’s car, hit a car in the parking lot and backed into our garage door (she hit it so hard she crinkled the whole door). And her doctors tell her that she’s fine to drive! Maybe some of these congressmen need to be the passenger while their elderly parent drives to understand the danger some of them pose.

I do think at some age elder should have an extra test measuring their response time. Age and medications affect this. There are driving programs that will evaluate an elders safety. Some families insist on this evaluation because if the elder doesn’t pass the MD must notify the registry of motor vehicles. It takes the argument from the family and places it on a professional.
