Security Alarms Systems
Where is the best place to buy car security systems online or in store?
I recently got jacked for my car stereo system about a week ago and i need to know of some good alarm systems and where to get them from and installed. Also want to know if it would be easier to just install myself because my truck is a manual and doesnt have power locks or windows. Thanks!
You have come to the right place…. Do not buy online. Purchasing online will save you some bucks, but only leads to headaches later. If the unit tears up, you have to have it un-installed, sent back, and re-installed when it gets back to you. You pay for shipping and the labor. By the time all this has taken place, you could of had a shop do the work and stand behind the unit. I would recommend anything that DEI (directed electronics incorporated) makes. This would include Viper, Avital, Clifford, to name a few. I have done alarm and remote starts since 1989. DEI is the best out there, hands down. You cant expect a 20 buck alarm to protect your $10,000 investment car, can you? You get what you pay for. If you have a Viper, Clifford, or Avital system installed by an authorized dealer, you get a limited lifetime warranty on the product. Take it from someone who knows. I have installed alarms by JTI, Excalibur, Bulldog, Skytek, Commando, etc. Stay away from them. You will be glad you did. The Avital is a great system if you dont have the cash for the Viper system. We sell those units for $199 installed. You may want to consider a dual proximity sensor as an addition to the alarm (also known as a radar sensor). This will allow for additional protection if your window gets knocked out and the thief decides to come back later and get what was left behind. Just make sure that if you let a shop install the system that they have good experience and that they arent gonna just “zip-tie” the alarm onto the steering column. You can do that yourself. A “true” alarm install, you should not be able to easily locate the main control module, as to keep a thief from just reaching under the dash and unplugging it. Also they should attempt to hide the siren under the hood to keep it from being cut. All of this is important if you really want to protect what is yours. Just remember… no matter how much you spend on an alarm system, it is a “theft deterent device”. Nothing will keep someone from getting your stuff. Heck, they can just back up to it with a rollback for that matter. Sorry about your loss and I hope that this helped you out! Good luck!!
