Setting up Xbox Live so that Zone Alarm doesn’t block connection?

I’m using Zone Alarm free edition, and am trying to hook up Xbox Live with the ethernet cord to the back of my laptop, which is wirelessly connected to the router in the next room.
I’ve set up the Xbox IP, and media center add ons to be accepted on the firewall, but whenever I test for Live I get an MTU failure message.
I tried turning off Zone Alarm, and no longer have the problem…
So of course, that’s what’s causing it.
Is there any way to fix this? I really don’t feel safe leaving Zone Alarm off.

There are certain ports which need to be open for Xbox to work. Consult the Microsoft website for which those are.
