Can I use a 12V/5A battery to replace a 12V/4.5A one?

My home alarm system came with a 12V/4.5A battery. I went to Radio Shack and they have the same size, same connection, same style battery except that the current is 5A rather than 4.5A. Is this safe to use? Thanks!

They are probably the same battery. The slightly higher rating for the Radio Shack model just means it can provide a half amp more current. The alarm system will only draw what it needs. There should be no problem, but if you are still concerned, call the people that monitor your alarm system and see what they say.
