CPU fan stops between bootup and Windows loading?

Hi! my PC CPU fan stops when i start loading Windows and M/B gives a beep alarm—can anyone please let me know why this is so? rest of the time fan runs OK—Thanks
its a Gigabyte GA-945GM-S2 motherboard with Pentium 4 ,3Ghz CPU–home assembled-Motherboard monitor not yet installed–i went into BIOS and disabled the SMART CPU fan monitoring option–now fan runs OK all the time–Thanks again!

What kind of PC ? Motherboard/CPU? Is it a manufactured system (DELL/HP/Compaq/Gateway), or a home built system? Are you running any utilities for monitoring cpu/fans like Everest or Motherboard Monitor ?

AMD systems use a technology called Cool’N'Quiet, which throttles the cpu clock and the fan down when there’s no demand for processing power, which sometimes cause problems in windows. I have to keep this feature disabled in bios or windows will not even load on my PC, so you may want to look at your system’s manual, and in the bios to see if there is a feature called Cool N Quiet, if there is disable it to see if the alarm stops and the fan returns to normal.

Some intel cpu’s use a similar system, but I am pretty sure they are only in use on the M series (mobile), and earlier Pentium 4′s, I do not know if the newer ones use it.

If it’s a newer manufactured PC, you may want to verify if it is under warranty and contact customer support to see if there is an update or a bios flash for that specific issue as well.
