help with the samsung d600?

My friend has sent me some cool tunes via bluetooth but I cant seem to be able to get any of them as my message tone, they just say apply a ringtone, caller ringtone or alarm. All i can use is the boring 9 or 10 preset tunes that ive got on my phone, am I missing something here. Also how do I make my video recordings last longer many thanks in advance
