Auto Back Up Alarms

I lightly bumped my neighbors bumper when backing up on a very dark street, and now they say they need $800 to?

There is no damage that I can see to their front bumper, and the only thing that happened was that it set off their car alarm, which brought them running out of their house.
Since I could see no damage and since there were no witnesses, I thought my honest apology was enough.
They got 1 estimate, saying an “auto body expert” told them bumper needs to be replaced, because bumper “shifted,” and the estimate is for $800.
I have State Farm, full coverage, and haven’t talked to my agent yet, but if I try to fight this, can they sue me (and WIN?) in small claims court?
If they seem to have a reasonably good case against me—and I don’t see howthey could, with no discernable damage and no witnesses—it won’t be worth it to me to fight it.
But I don’t want to just give in to what I see is their bogus claim.

It is quite possible with the way cars are made today. You are entittled to see more than one estimate, and ‘on paper’ estimates, not just ‘he said’ estimates. Its best for both of you to settle this out of court.
