Is there a lot of people that get away with smoking pot in the army?

Such as the weekend warriors?I heard that there’s tons of people who pull it off.Not that I do it but it’s kind of alarming that they don’t get caught that easy.

Lots of Soldiers get away with it…for a short period of time. Some lucky few get nailed after their first time, while others sometimes go for months or years…but they all get caught.

In my reserve unit, we performed a mandatory 10% monthly random drug screening. I caught 2 people in the last 3 years, both are out of service with general discharges (one former SPC and one former SSG).

That was while on ‘weekend warrior’ duty.

As for on deployment, that’s a whole different story. No one wants a dope-fiend in the squad, on the team, or in the s**t with them, and those who try get caught much earlier.

Across the board, most Soldiers and leaders follow a zero tolerance rule (commanders, senior leaders). Just like in society, there are some who look the other way, but those who do are usually ones that also get caught doing something wrong.
