and asking hard questions about mortgage backed securities and credit default swaps.
Now I know credit default swaps were designed so that they could not be regulated. Therefore we had billions of dollars of financial transactions with no oversight on wall street and within the banking financing industry.
So the question is, what govt department or departments should have been paying attention and should have been asking some questions about these transactions and ring the alarm bell that something potentially dangerous to the economy of the USA and of the world might be going on???

Ron Paul is all for regulation (or abolition) of the Fed, the President’s Working Group on Financial Markets and the Stabalization Fund. You shouldn’t have to ask this sort of question. When that much of our money and our economy is at stake, government should be both transparent and representative.
