Anti Theft for Items that are smaller (GPS possible)?

Recently my home was burglarized, and they took my Xbox 360 and 42″ TV. Now, I want to minimize this from ever happening again. I was wondering what are some steps and precautions to avoid this. Is a GPS tracker possible for items? I was thinking about getting another system and want to protect it. Any advice is much appreciated. We are getting an alarm system, which we lacked and im thinking of buying a video camera.

Really, there is nothing you can do except deep the thieves out of your house and/or your equipment locked down.

Recording serial numbers helps, as would your own serial numbers.
