And it’s not a mechanical sound, at all. It’s like someone’s playing a recording – but I’m not playing anything and I DON’T have anything up that would be. I’ve checked for ALL possible sources – IT IS NOT: a popup of ANY kind of ad, an “alarm clock”, or AIM/MSN/YIM; and it DOESN’T just happen on a certain page – it starts up at random, howls, and then stops for a while. The only thing I could find that even slightly matches is a downloadable widget – that I HAVEN’T downloaded.
