What does GID-3 stand for on the Army’s M22 Chemical Alarm?

I’m in the army and we have M22 cehical alarms in our strykers. They are also known as GID-3. My branch chief has posed the question of what GID-3 stands for. I’ve been looking for about 8 hours. Is there any chemical defense people or experts that can give me an answer if it isn’t against OPSEC. Thanks, SSG B

It stands for Graseby Ionic Detector – 3 (GID-3).

It can be found in FM 3-11.34 which I have given a link to below. Scroll down to page B-24.

I’m sure that since you are asking this, you already know much of how it works and such. If not, you can read up about it easily enough. Just remember to mention that it is a technology that we purchased from England.
