Honda Accord 2000 dead with new battery, only clock lights up.?

2000 Honda Accord, 6 cylinder. Yesterday as I was parking it, all the lights came on the dashboard. This morning everything was completely dead when I turned the key. I bought a new battery and hooked it up. The alarm system went off, so I unhooked the battery terminal and put the keys in the ignition switch and flipped to on position. Went back and attached terminal.
The clock came on the dashboard, but still nothing. No radio, no lights, nothing happens when i turn the switch to start the engine, please help.

This could really be sooo many things, however; you should check the easy stuff first.

Pop the hood and look for a black snap-locked box on the driver’s side. That’s your main fuse panel. To make this really simple… any fuse 30A or higher should be pulled out and visually inspected. In addition, a specific fuse labeled for the ECM or PGM-FI should be pulled and inspected.

If inspecting the replacing fuses doesn’t do the trick, it gets much more complicated. While I’m comfortable troubleshooting electrical in my car, probably 90% of the folks who drive (probably including you) are not versed with using a multimeter and a wiring diagram… not to mention the time investment.

Take it to an auto electrician in your area if you can have it towed. Typical charges for blowing out fuses and relays are very low. If you fried the onboard computer (ECU/ECM/PGM/whatever u wanna call it), which is RARE, then it is much pricier.

Also, you may want to re-post this question on one of the Honda tuner websites if you plan to do the troubleshooting yourself. Even the folks at k20a.org ephatch.com, clubrsx.com and other sites can help.
