It is an alarm system for your home considered part of a house sale?

I'm in the process of selling my house. Several years ago, I purchased and installed a pretty nice alarm system at home with motion detectors, glass break sensors, and a central "brain" to contact a service surveillance whenever an alarm is detected. Now that I'm selling my house, my realtor tells me that this is an "accessory" of the house, like the bathrooms and lights, and should keep the house. I can not withdraw the product and make me, or additional compensation can I expect out of it. I think there's very little difference between an alarm system and a stereo system. I intend to remove my stereo receiver, speakers, amplifiers, and multiple decks that make up the sound system itself. It seems that an alarm system would fall into the same category. Can someone help explain this to me? Are there any building codes or issues legal here I do not know?

Anything that is attached to the structure is considered an accessory and is part of the property being sold. If you have something attached to the property you really want to take with you, I think the bast way to handle it is to delete the object before putting the property on the market. Thus potential buyers will not see the fixture and it will no longer be part of real estate. However in most cases, holes are punched in an alarm system installed so you will have some holes to be filled, patched and painted before putting the property on the market. Sometimes the cost of removing the equipment and the repair of the structure where the device is attached makes the cost of removing the device is not worth it to remove the attachment ..
