How long does it take for you to become PFC?
OK scenario: Soldier finished AIT in August 2010, got to his first duty station in September 2010. It is now March 2011, He has gotten in trouble a few times for being late and not having all his inspectable items once. NCOs said he was up for promotion but missed PT one day after a power outage and his alarm clock was reset. That made him not get promoted last week when they originally planned on doing his promotion ceremony. He’s been working really hard to not be late and not get in trouble. How long do you think until they actually promote him to where he actually wears the PFC patch? His paperwork to get E-3 pay has been put in and he should get his pay increase in April.

E1-E4 are all time in grade/ time in service promotions. Pretty much they happen automatically. I did not have a pretty promotion to E4. Basically I walked into work and was told by my NCOIC that I was wearing the wrong rank and to fix it over lunch.
Remember though…. You continuously keep getting hit for being late to formations etc. They are not obligated to give you rank, and can easily find ways to take it away from you. Gotta keep your nose clean if you know what I mean.
